🇺🇸 Tarpon Springs
Captn Jack's Bar and Grill
Pub Food
This place has a great motif. It also is in a good location on the marina in Tarpon Springs. Their menu is mostly seafood but they have some burgers thrown in. The nachos were great and as you can see in one of the pictures we dug into it before I could take the picture. The bar area is open and a nice breeze blew through while we ate. The fish comes in a bucket and adds to the eating experience. Highly recommended if you are in the Tampa area.

Cafe
The perfect breakfast on a sidewalk cafe facing the beach in Miami Beach. We each had the scrambled egg sandwich which was highly recommended by waiter. Now we will check off something on our bucket list by dipping our toes in the Atlantic Ocean.

First Watch
Breakfast Spot
This breakfast spot in Sarasota hit the spot. Pam says the red medicine all juice with shot of boost(d-3, zinc, B and others) was delicious. She also had the steel cut oatmeal packed with fruit served with a blueberry muffin. It was quite good. I had the chickychanga breakfast burrito topped with Vera Cruz sauce which had chicken and chorizo stuffed in it. It was tasty. This is a good spot to eat if you can get through the traffic, which is horrendous.

🇺🇸 Deer Park
Masters BrewHouse
Beer Pub
This brew house is in Deer Park WA, home of the infamous Starbuck murder, (google it) made famous on Dateline with the legendary Keith Morrison! I liked the atmosphere and I liked the Shroom Burger I ordered. My cousin ordered the Chili Brat, which has steak chili in it. It had a different taste but not bad. My wife and my cousin’s wife split a BLT. My wife wasn’t crazy about it, she said it was the bread was too buttery. So that is why I gave it two thumbs up. The beer was your basic brewpub beer , which seems to taste the same in every brewpub I visit. Not bad but similar to others. If you’re in the area give it a try.

🇺🇸 Coeur d'Alene
Las Chavelas
Mexican
We like trying little out of the way places. I had the fajitas quesadilla and Pam had the taco salad with chicken. She said it was the best shredded chicken she ever had. I could take it or leave the margarita. The motif was Mexican and had a nice feel. Plus every place we ate in Idaho gives you more food than you can handle. This is the 2nd time I didn’t finish the whole meal. No supply chain issues here.

🇺🇸 Coeur d'Alene
Tito's Italian Grill & Wine Shop
Italian
This restaurant is on the main drag in Coure d’alene. Italians love their wine and it has a big selection. My wife had the fettuccini and I had the Chicken Parmesan. Both delicious with the fettuccini having a smooth wine taste. For dessert she had the cheesecake and I had the chocolate cake with ice cream. The menus are an iPad programmed with their menu. I had never seen that and it was cool.

🇺🇸 Post Falls
Curley's Hauser Junction
Pub Food
This is an eclectic place that looks like a lot of fun. At night it turns into a nightclub with live music. It has pool tournaments and bingo on Tuesdays. They have a large selection of beers on tap. The food consists of flatbreads, wings and fries. We had what was called the Geronimo flatbread which was chicken and veggies. It was real good. So were the fries. If you are in this part of Idaho look for the train out front.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub
Pizza
On our tour of Idaho we stopped here for pizza, pulled pork bbq sandwich and a cold Kokanee beer. It is a cool atmosphere with big screen TVs and a rustic, mountain feel. The food was really good and Pam loved the sandwich. We are watching our sugar intake so no dessert tonight.

The Hoot Owl Cafe
Diner
The Hoot Owl Cafe is actually in Ponderay Idaho. It’s a cool breakfast place and they give you a ton of food. I didn’t finish it. Pam had the biscuits and gravy while I had what’s called the Hotsy Totsy. It’s tater tots with eggs, bacon, jalapeños and other breakfast items piled on top.

Caruso's Italian Kitchen Bar & Grill
Italian
Caruso’s just opened a few months back. It took the spot vacated after 40 years by El Queso Grande. We half expected to eat Mexican food. The tables and some of the motif is still there. They built a wall to separate the bar from the dining area. It was still pretty loud. However the food was really good, and a lot of it. I ordered cheesy bread but if I had known how much garlic bread they bring to the table I wouldn’t have ordered it. We had five boxes of food to take home. The table wasn’t big enough for all the food we received. My wife had chicken Marsala, which she said was excellent. I had the lasagna. Our daughter had the chicken fettuccini. We will be going back again armed with the knowledge that we don’t have to order much to have a huge meal.

🇺🇸 Lancaster
Taqueria Pepe El Toro
Mexican
This restaurant was located in a hole in the wall strip center in Lancaster. How we ended up there I don’t know. We were in a group of 10 and no one had eaten there before. It’s very small; 4 booths and a couple of tables. The owner’s eyes got wide as we entered. But the service was very good, food came out quick and was great. I highly recommend this place. Pictured is chicken fajitas, chicken tostada salad, chicken burrito and chicken nachos. Have fun and enjoy.

Ketel One Club
Hot Dogs
These are the Dodger Dogs at Dodger Stadium. I went to the game on Sunday. They switched from Farmer John’s, which was there forever. I don’t know who the provider is now. I didn’t think they were very good, and the 2nd one tasted like it was starting to turn. No amount of mustard could cover that taste. I’ll pass next time.

🇺🇸 Los Angeles
Finneys
Gastropubs
Let me preface this by saying that the food was good. However, we arrived on a Friday evening at 5:10pm. Finney’s has only been open for 3 months. They are obviously working out the kinks. We were told it was a 45 minute wait. Then we were told it would be another 20 minutes. We finally got seated at 6:30. During that time I went to the bar to order a beer. I had to line up at the end of the bar where the servers dump the dirty glasses. The bartender helps after he has finished serving the people sitting at the bar. It was a good 20 minutes before I was able to get a beer. The server was prompt to our table and took our order. The food arrived in a decent amount of time for three of us but mine did not make it. After a few minutes of waiting for my food I told the others to begin before it gets cold. We called the waiter over and asked where my food was. He said the kitchen supervisor was aware of it and it would 2 minutes. So I said” you forgot my order”. And I had never heard the term kitchen supervisor. My food arrived when the others were almost finished. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich on sourdough, and even though the chicken was hot the bread had been toasted but was cold. The place itself looks big on the outside but is very small on the inside. And it is loud, not from the music, which you can barely hear, but from people talking. The acoustics make everyone’s voices carry. You can barely hold a conversation at the table. I would recommend you pass for now.

California is open again just in time for our anniversary. The wife wanted Japanese teppan so we went to a place we haven’t been to yet. Yamato’s was a great pick. Excellent food and an entertaining chef. The volcano is always the main event. They have two locations that I am aware of. The other is in Agoura Hills.

Pink's Hot Dogs
Hot Dogs
Friday night world famous Pink’s in West Hollywood announced that they would close on Monday until the pandemic ended. So the wife and I decided we better get a dog before they close. Screw the stay at home order! Screw Garcetti and Newsomlini! We went to Pink’s. Talk about a super spreader event. We waited in line for 2 1/2 hours. But it was worth it. We sat in the car and chowed down. Their dogs are great!

Junkyard Cafe
American
This is a fun eclectic place with a junkyard motif. It has many different props all over the place which takes a long time to see. The menu even has funny names like “Smelly Shelly’s fries” “Spuds McKensy” and Filthy Eggs”. Since Ventura County is still open ( for now) we were able to sit and enjoy a dinner with friends. Do it while you can.

Bahama Breeze

Our last meal in Florida before we leave to go back behind the Iron Curtain of California. Back to closed restaurants and fake Dr. Funsuck making things up as she goes along. Anyway, the Bahama Breeze had good food with a nice presentation. I had the salmon with mashed potatoes. Everyone enjoyed their food. The patio was great and it’s right on the water. It’s worth a stop for a good lunch.

The Lucky Dill
Deli
This place has the flavor and atmosphere of a Brooklyn deli. The food was delicious and it has an awesome bakery. The brownie was huge and very chocolatey, which I love. The sandwich pictured is called the Rachel. The menu has different names of New York places and people for different sandwiches. Pictures of NY athletes and autographed jerseys adorn the walls. It captures what you would think New York is like. A definite stop when in the Tamps area.

BBQ Joint
I had to leave California again to sit down in a restaurant. Thanks Gavinito Newsomlini. The Smokehouse has great bbq and smoked meat. We had jumbo chicken wings as an appetizer. Then I had the sausage sandwich loaded with onions and tomatoes with a great stone grounded mustard. The other pictures were the other entrees which had great reviews. Truly worth a visit when in the Tampa Bay, Florida area.
