Favorite Shanghai dumpling place in the city. Lion's head meatballs and eggplant are always great too. (So are the spicy wonton and the green beans.) Had a great time catching up with a friend living in Thailand.

I was craving Burmese food, so I made this. I like to pair it with fresh rice noodles. The grocery store ran out of cilantro, so I used scallions as a garnish.

Leftover salmon in a salad. I made the vinaigrette with olive oil, red wine vinegar, Bavarian mustard, salt & pepper.

I don't like eating the same thing twice in one day, so I paired the salmon and greens from earlier today with tomato and cheese to make an omelette. Added a dollop of sour cream on the side. And the omelette must be cooked in butter! Olive oil is healthier but butter and eggs are perfection.

My cousin had a wedding to go to, so she gave me her Sunday pass for BottleRock. Bands (esp. Strumbellas and Foo Fighters) were awesome, but the food is all $15+ and the wine was crazily priced ($12-20+) per glass. Beer was $10+ like in stadiums. Missing the Munich beer gardens at a time like this.

Dessert Round 2: Ice cream! One of my friends really liked the avocado toast flavor but it was weird for me to be chewing chunks of bread in my ice cream. Secret breakfast is a go-to classic and strawberry margarita was fun and light.

Back to SF, back to Asian food. I like this place a lot. Authentic Burmese food without the lines and parking issues of Burma SuperStar.

Snacks purchased at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport (stroopwafels) and Reykjavík's Keflavík Airport. The smoked salmon was really top notch. And I do love rye bread. Wish it were more common in the States. Also the fried onion topping used in Scandinavian and German cooking reminds me of fried onions used in Asian cooking. It's a very common component of Burmese noodle salads.

Only place open late. Was flooded with Ajax fans after their loss to Manchester United in the Europa League. Also, I ordered off a Dutch menu that said it would be 4 "somethings" of spareribs and it turned out to be 4 mini-racks. Not a bad deal for €13! Beers were only €2 each so I took advantage.

I couldn't leave Munich without trying weisswurst, a white veal sausage that is mildly spiced with mace, cardamom, ginger, lemon, and flecked with fresh parsley. You're not supposed to eat the skins, only the meat inside. It's traditionally served only for breakfast since it is made fresh daily and shouldn't be eaten later than noon. Görreshof serves them until 4 pm so you can enjoy them for lunch. I also couldn't resist a seasonal asparagus dish and enjoying a radler (shandy) on a warm day.

Huge outdoor beer garden with hearty and delicious food. The only quibble I have is a lack of steak knives since the pork skin was very crispy and hard to slice through with a butter knife.

Came back here for a late night meal after a show at the State Opera House. The kitchen was closed but they have a buffet that stays open late. The strudel was delicious and the warm vanilla sauce the perfect accompaniment. (Not pictured: glass of Viennese Gemischter satz wine.)

The schnitzel was so good here! Crunchy breaded crust and moist meat. Also in Germany and Austria when the dish is called "Wiener schnitzel," it must be made with veal, not pork (which is called Schweineschnitzel). American restaurants typically don't differentiate and use pork which is cheaper and not as delicious.

Cute place and I really liked the carrot cake. It would be considered not sweet enough by American standards but it was perfect for me.
