An early FryDay… Japanese Fried Chicken from @eat.jfc, a sidewalk pop-up in WLA. Had some really good Japanese Fried Chicken or Karaage tonight. I ordered the 10 piece which comes with two flavors and two sauces. I opted for the Original and Lemon Pepper flavors. Both were delicious! BTW, the pieces are huge. I need to order the sandwich next time. Located in front of the Mitsuwa Market on Centinela Ave, this JFC pop-up is open Thursdays to Sundays after 6 PM. Cherry wood smoked, sweet and sticky pork spare ribs served over Texas Toast. Hickory smoked pulled pork sandwich with mustard slaw and pickle salad served on a Martin’s @potatorolls. Mustard Slaw & Pickle Salad, the perfect combo with this BBQ. Hopefully, we’ll see more APL BBQ in Pasadena, because it saves me trips to Central Texas for really good BBQ. It’s Sandwich Saturday! Picanha Sandwich from Brazilian BBQ at the corner of National & Sawtelle in West LA on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. With mozzarella, vinaigrette, on ciabatta bread, and served with fries. Usually when a customer tells me of a “good” food place, I’m somewhat disappointed. BUT, in this case, my sandwich was really good. The Picanha (Sirloin Cap) was cooked to my “Medium” request, it was tender and flavorful. Old Skool Cantonese… Celebrating the Dodgers signing of Freddie Freeman! Not that one would celebrate a Dodger signing with Chicken Salad, but long time Dodgers fans may know (or not know) about Paul’s Kitchen in the Fashion District of Downtown LA. Reason being, the great Dodger icon Tommy Lasorda would order food from Paul’s Kitchen before games when he was managing. Saw him here a couple of times after he retired AND they have a “Tommy Lasorda Special” combo meal. Lots of former Dodgers’ pictures on the wall too. For me, it was something of a tradition, as my family has been picking up food here for a long long time. As most people would go to Panda for that quick fix, we would pick up food from Paul’s Kitchen.
