It’s been a rough month at work and lots of time sitting in traffic… I thought I’d treat myself for a tough week. On the way home from work, I had heard that earlier today, Lisa Marie Presley went into cardiac arrest and was in the hospital this morning. 15 minutes later, I heard the sad news that Priscilla had announced that Lisa Marie had died. When I was in college, I worked at Nordstrom at Topanga Plaza in the Men’s Sportswear Department. We had a lot of celebrity shoppers and one day a co-worker had motioned me over to the cash wrap station in the children’s department. I thought she was going to ask me for help with a customer, but I watched her wrap a gift. She didn’t say anything to me, but I heard her customer ask the woman next to her if she should buy another one? I remember, the customer was gorgeous with beautiful eyes. She didn’t seem to have much makeup on if any, but just a natural beauty. I happened to look at the woman she was talking to and I remember saying to myself, that’s Priscilla Presley. Then it clicked, Wow, Lisa Marie Presley… Tonight, hearing about her passing, I was wondering if, at the time, she was shopping for her son that had died a couple of years ago. (It was actually during the time of her daughter, Riley) With Elvis’ birthday on Sunday, Lisa Marie at the Golden Globes on Tuesday, it’s just sad and my condolences to her family and friends.
