Roasted cauliflower (4/5): creamy roasted cauliflower with portobello, bell pepper, queso. Great warm side to have. Guacamole and chip (4/5): Bakersfield offers chunky guaca and thinner chips, which I love.

Shrimp Okonomiyaki (1.5/5): Okonomiyaki is difficult to find here, but this one was simply disappointing. Sauce was ok but pancake itself wasn’t good. Honey sriracha Hapa wings (2/5): Wings needed more flavor. The flavor existed only on the surface.

Chonhqing mouth watering chicken (3.5/5): tender chicken, chili oil not too spicy. Salt & pepper squid (1.5/5): the crumbles were good, but squid was too heavily battered. Country style lamb (3.5/5): similarly tasty lamb and veggie, except that certain veggie was not quite fresh. Yuxiang sauce eggplant (2/5): deep fried eggplant failed to absorb the sauce. Hot oil wonton (2.5/5): chili oil was good, but the wontons were too thick-skinned.

Pho Lang Thang
Vietnamese
A rare pho place at OTR. Pho Bo (4/5): Nice broth and veggie. Rice noodle is quite good too, even in carryout. Tender brisket and steak. Goi Bap Cai Tom (3/5): Poached shrimp salad in a sesame rice cracker bowl. I ordered because I was curious about the cracker bowl, but it wasn’t very tasty. Normal salad, and the dipping sauce was too sour. Cánh Gà Chiên (3.5/5): Vietnamese chicken wings. The wings were well marinated in sou and lemongrass, fried till slightly crispy. The ginger and honey sauce was good but salty, so better served on the side.

Brussels sprouts salad (4/5): A unique creation of charred brussels sprouts topped with veggie salsa and cilantro lime vinaigrette. Balanced, unique taste. Would be perfect if it was less oily. Fried chicken taco (1.5/5): taco with chicken, mashed potato, cheddar and gravy. To be fair, potato and gravy didn’t taste bad. It’s just the combination of this taco is weird and unpleasant. Seared scallop (3.5/5): with fried green tomatoes and maple custard sauce. The scallops were pleasantly sweet, and went well with mustard sauce. Would be better if the tomatoes were no so dry. Loaded tots (2/5): potato tots with bacon and chedder, house ranch sauce. Well fried but too salty.

Revolution Rotisserie OTR
American
Looks like an overhyped place for me. Nelson Mandela Chita (2/5): pulled rotisserie chicken, black beans, corn chips, chipotle comeback sauce. The pita was hard and dry, and the contents were not particularly impressive. Rotisserie Chicken - Pollo a La Brasa (3/5): Peruvian inspired chicken with cilantro lime rice, aji verde sauce and pickled red onions. I loved the sauce, but the rotisserie chicken itself was mediocre. The thigh was even dry. Not something I’d come back for. Apple pie (2/5): kind of disappointing with very little apple in it.

Strawberry and fried goat cheese salad (4/5): with honey mustard berry sauce. Couldn’t go wrong there. Ravioli duo: choice of two house made ravioli. Their ravioli are huge, and skin is thicker, which is a drawback. Lobster and crab ravioli (3.5/5): with cognac cream sauce. Veal short rib ravioli (3.5/5): with truffle mushroom marsala sauce. Wish short rib was more “melty”, but the sauce was quite nice.

A restaurant in Covington that is more famous for its brunch - though they do dinner too. They also own Frida’s and The Standard. Breakfast casserole (3.5/5): Tummy filling with a good variety of ingredients. Fluffy egg and potato base, sausage and veggies in sour cream, topped with baked cheddar. The goetta side is too salty though. Pancake (2.5/5): Lemon blueberry buttermilk pancake. Flavor is good, but the texture if pancake is too dense. The blueberry compote was delicious though. Fried green tomato (3.5/5): with ranch dipping sauce. Couldn’t go wrong with this one, isn’t it?

Cozy breakfast joint at Newport, KY. Avocado toast (4/5): with cubes of roasted beets, avocado, pickled onion, feta, arugula, and over easy fried egg. Habanero added a touch of spiciness and tanginess, which makes it special. Cubano with dressed salad (3/5): with ham, pickle, mustard and Swiss cheese. More of a mediocre choice.

Shio ramen (4/5): Clean, light chicken shio broth. Pork belly was very tender. Egg was perfectly half cooked. I didn’t like the texture of the noodle though. Karaage chicken (3.5/5): Tenderly fried chicken, but hard on the outside. Both sauces (Jordy mayo and Oroshi ponzu) were both tasty, especially the ponzu sauce (with daikon oroshi). Shishito buono (3.5/5): Shishito pepper with bagna cauda and parmesan. It’s a pity that the cheese was melt when I brought it home. Another interesting dish is shishito oishi (with ponzu and bonito). Butternut Squash Tart (5/5): Light sweet tart with whip cream and almond butter, very tasty.

Red chili added a nice layer of complexity to the sauce. good creaminess with ricotta.Would be better if the sauce focus less on acidity but zest fragrance.

MexicanTacos
A quality taco place managed by Thunderdome group at OTR. Great for gathering and chill, and they do catering for office events with good selection of menu too. Tacos were served with house-made corn tortilla. They are loaded, but not overwhelmed by sauce - just right. My favorite is Al Pastor and Fish. The guacamole was on the chunky and light side and went well with the thinner chips they provided.
