The stall reopened to my delight, although this time it’s the nephew who runs the stall, and what big shoes the nephew has to fill...
The taste is generally the same, but this is my second visit since reopened and they tend to have too much sauce in the mix, which makes the bowl of noodles taste alittle blend, without that exact kick of chili and vinegar that uncle used to do. He added “chai-po”, which I doubt it was necessary. But what’s missing now is the dried sole fish, maybe it was because it is a difficult thing to master, with the grilling and everything, but missing fried sole fish basically changed everything about the bowl of BCM.
What’s good though, he’s getting the hang of the minced meat timing and the liver slices. Second round timing was better, with the liver just right and succulent. The dumpling, it should be their recipe, but still doesn’t like teochew dumplings and the skin very much.
