Delicious seafood meal and reasonably priced house wine. Sotto Mare serves one of my favorite renditions of cioppino in the city. You can request it spicy or mild. I prefer it spicy; it has a zesty flavor to it.
Cioppino, despite its pseudo-Italian name, is actually a dish that originated in San Francisco from Italian immigrant fisherman back in the 1800s. Itโs chockful of crab and shellfish and served either with pasta or garlic bread. Sotto Mare serves it with penne pasta. My other two favorite places, Anchor Oyster Bar and Tadich, serve it with garlic bread.
