Got the combo silog with tapa (beef) and their signature sisig (chicken). This is an outpost of the original Daly City restaurant. It’s tiny and consists of a long counter, like a Tokyo ramen place. Food was as good as the original location.

SAMS American Eatery

Went here before Aladdin and it was all right. The entree was expensive for what you get (essentially it was a small-ish portion of beef stew with white rice) and the food came all at the same time... appetizers and entrees all at the same time... very weird. We came 2 hours before the show and did not request that. Also they forgot one of the entrees (not pictured here) and we finally received it much later. They took it off the bill at least, but my mom ate her entree long after my dad and I finished ours. Overall not the best experience: food overpriced, service spotty, and the best dish was the Brussels sprouts from the specials board.

This is usually one of my go-to dishes. There was something wrong with the soup this time though. I guess someone new was working there. I called to complain and they were nice enough to give me a refund.

Decadent Cajun/Creole restaurant. Still going strong and quality level is good as when it opened 10 years ago. And yes there’s still a line...

The shrimp cake is always on point here! The hu tieu has my favorite kind of noodles but the broth tasted a little too much of MSG... I think next time I’ll go back to my favorite rice plate with pork chop, shrimp cake, and fried egg.

I have a backlog to upload but thought I’d start with Thanksgiving. Not a great pic because the older generation already started eating before I could take pretty pics. I cooked a lot: Dungeness crab, roast turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, stamppot, stuffing (with fennel, apple, sausage), creamed spinach, green bean casserole, Brussels sprouts with bacon, cranberry sauce with citrus zest and hachiya persimmon, pumpkin cheesecake, and sangria. We ate, drank, watched football, and were merry! 🦃🍗👍

Pujol

Pujol is frequently listed as one of the best restaurants in the world and it lived up to its reputation! The food was inventive without being fussy, the service unobtrusive but attentive, and the cost was shockingly low. And frankly everything was damn tasty, especially the deep, rich mother mole which has been aged for nearly four years. Highly recommend.

We had to come here again. Consistently delicious and the chicken liver pasta had to be repeated. Not sure what "sea cockroach" is but the taste and texture was similar to crawfish or langoustine.
