Tempura soba for lunch!

My last meal in #Nagoya before hopping on Shinkansen is #Taiwan #AburaSoba or #MazeSoba #台湾 #油そば #まぜそば! Some of you requested this recipe so I had to give it a try. 😉 It's quite oily for my liking (it's called abura/oil soba) but noodles are nice and chewy and pork mixture/sauce was quite good. Final stop of our trip, my home Yokohama. 🚆 #JOCinJapan

Nagoya's speciality Miso Katsu (味噌かつ)!

#OguraToast #小倉トースト is a thick toast with red bean paste on top, and it's #Nagoya speciality! It is well known especially as part of a morning special meal at coffee shops. Spread the butter, red bean paste (and whipped cream) on top! So good!😋👌 #JOCinJapan

When you are in #Nagoya, you got to try Tebasaki #手羽先 (chicken wings)! One of the most popular chain Yama-chan #世界の山ちゃん is everywhere (I tried one in Tokyo before). The wings are pretty awesome! Also Nagoya's Tenmusu (shrimp tempura rice ball), miso katsu (in skewer here), Dotteri (pork intestine simmered in miso), and we also had chicken skin Gyoza.

It had been my wish to eat #Hitsumabushi #ひつまぶし in #Nagoya!! Steamed rice is topped with finely chopped pieces of grilled eels (unadon). You usually enjoy in 3 ways; eat as unadon, eat unadon with relishes (wasabi, green onion, and nori), and lastly "ochazuke style" by pouring hot dashi + tea over the unadon. #JOCinJapan

Very reasonable #KobeBeef #神戸牛 lunch set at #SteakLand #ステーキランド! When in Kobe, got to try delicious melt in your mouth Kobe Beef. The steak is seasoned with only salt and pepper, and there are 2 sauces you can dip it in along with fried garlic chips. #jocinjapan

Buffet style breakfast round 1. A lot of hotels in Japan offer a wide variety of both western and Japanese breakfast dishes. The Japanese dishes especially make me happy because it's challenging to make so many dishes for my own breakfast at home. 😉😆 #jocinjapan #ArimaOnsen

First time seeing black sesame milk and it's in package!

One of my favorite things to do in Taiwan is to wake up early and get breakfast.  This store (xing long ju) has been in business since 1954.  Their steamed pork buns are amazing - lots of juice inside the bun like xiao long bao.  We also enjoyed their traditional sandwich Xiao Bing You Tiao, Dan Bing (egg pancake), Gua Bao (pork belly bun), and more.  When you are in Taiwan, don't miss the amazing breakfast experience! #jocintaiwan

Have you seen #KFC Buffet (All You Can Eat)?! I've never seen it before (but we didn't eat). The sign says adult (& kids above middle school) $18, elementary school kids $9, kids before elementary school $4, 80 min limit. How many pieces of chicken can you finish? 😁😂😆 #osaka #jocinjapan

As per kids request, we had some #sushi for dinner at Shin Osaka station. The price for food in Osaka is very reasonable. I had chirashi and Mr JOC had this "satisfaction set", just $27 (much cheaper than SF!).

Some of the unique #Yakitori menus that we can't find in the US.... White liver (#白レバー) and Chicken Yukhoe (#鶏ユッケ). Have you tried them in Japan? The "freshness" in Japan is beyond amazing.
