Dinner at @theprogress_sf in #SanFrancisco, which is a sibling restaurant to @statebirdprovision. It's a cozy, farm to table, family style meal. We had avocado manchego wedge, spiced beef and marrow dumpling, butter bean & Spanish octopus ragout, and grilled pork shoulder with sunflower seed sambal. We also ordered Dutch baby with chanterelle mushrooms and grilled Monterey Bay abalones as a la carte.

We love white clam pizzas and Mr. JOC got to try one of the best in the country at @frank_pepes_pizzeria in New Haven! He said it has amazing crispy crust with freshly shucked clams! The coal fired oven can fit 20-30 pizzas at once. This place has been open since 1925... would love to eat their pizza one day! Anyone has been there?

Izakaya Ginji in San Mateo is my favorite local Japanese restaurant. I love their weekend lunch menus (not open for lunch on weekdays).

Last weekend I had the pleasure to dine at #wakuriya, a Michelin star Japanese #kaiseki restaurant, for the first time. They serve a nice-course prefix menu (only one menu). We loved seeing another husband (chef) and wife (host) team running the business together. We enjoyed the intimate dining setting and all the beautifully presented dishes with both superlative Californian and Japanese ingredients. Reservation is hard to get, but worth staying up till midnight exactly 30 days ahead to get a table! #SanMateo
