This is the diner located in the El Cortez hotel in Las Vegas. It is one of the oldest hotels and the last one which hasn’t changed its facade since it was built. I think it was constructed in 1941, hence the name of the diner.
The food was good just like any breakfast place and presented well. It’s motif was 40’s and the music they played was from that time period. It also had old timers in there that give the place a certain atmosphere.
I’ve been coming to Vegas for over 40 years and had never been to this hotel. Downtown Vegas doesn’t have a good rep but if you visit you need to just roam around Fremont St and get a feel for how Vegas use to be. The Mob Museum is two blocks from here. If you have an afternoon it is worth the $45 charge to walk through and do the tour. It shows old Vegas and is really nostalgic.
