🇺🇸 Juneau
Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill
Seafood
Dinner a few hours before are cruise trip continues. We went to eat around 6:00pm. Onboard was 8:30pm. We wanted to eat in town since we were going to be at sea for the next two days. I had the salmon burger with curley fries. Pam had a grilled chicken sandwich with curley fries. The place itself was nice and clean. It is located within walking distance of the dock where the boat is tied up. Seems like a good location.

The Hangar On The Wharf
Beer Pub
This was our stop in Juneau. I think a local recommended it. Since we eat a lot of food on the ship we weren’t that hungry. I ordered chicken nachos for the table. That’s what I ate. My wife loves clam chowder and she will try it at every stop. I think the other order was some sort of fish sandwich. Through the window you can see our ship parked at the dock. The place has a nice motif. And a ton of beer taps. A lot of local brews. There are beer taps on the wall.

🇺🇸 Ketchikan
Annabelle's Famous Keg and Chowder House
Burger Joint
Our first stop of our cruise, Ketchikan. My wife loves clam chowder so we asked who had the best in town. The consensus was Anabelle’s. She said it was really good, so there you have it. I had a burger with fries. It was good also. There is also a famous bar there where Sospy Smith was killed. He was a thief and con man. The last guy he conned didn’t take to kindly to it and shot him dead. FAFO.

🇨🇦 Vancouver
Black Frog Eatery
Beer Pub
Our last night in Vancouver we went to Gastown. That is where the famous steam clock is located. The hands don’t move but it does keep perfect time. The steam horns blast every 15 minutes. It plays portions of the Westminster Chimes and at the top of the hour the whole tune. The Black Frog is located 50 feet down the street. We had good seats to watch it. I ordered a burger with fries. Our friend Jackie ordered the great Canadian dish poutine. I also had a Kokanee beer. The place had a nice sporting motif. Several TVs with the Toronto Bluejays game on. They won by the way 6-1 over the Yankees. Gastown use to be a shithole but they cleaned it up and it seems pretty safe for tourists. Check it out.

Ice Cream Shop
We went for ice cream after dinner. We found this place. The way they make the ice cream is incredible. Check out all the steam. The ice cream was ok, not great, but still it was fun to watch.

Riley's Fish & Steak
AmericanModern
We ate here our first night in Vancouver, BC. This is not a place I would eat at normally. Very expensive, even in Canadian money. It’s right across from Canada Place, where we will go when our cruise ship arrives. They have a crab bar in a separate room. High end wines are available for the snooty rich elites. I’m just a scrub so I don’t drink wine. The salmon was good. I don’t know what those beans were next to it. My friend had the chowder, not sure if it was clam or salmon. That big blob of dough was the bread we had at the table. I think it was a buttered croissant. It took up half the table. I didn’t care for it. Not sure about the other food the women ate. It was too foo-foo for me. Big names to impress us. I will say the service was good. So if you are on vacation and like to eat your money this is the place.

Goldburger Granada Hills
Burger Joint
The site of the old Diary Queen on Chatsworth St. it is now a Goldburger. They updated the building. It was pretty beat up after years of deferred maintenance. The burgers were good. The Curley fries were very good. The chocolate shakes were great. We ate outside since it was nice out. They also created an inside dining room, which the old place did not have. I just remembered, it was a Frosty Queen before it closed. It was originally a Diary Queen in the 60s.

Killer Burger Medford
Burger Joint
On our way home from Spokane we found this place on Google. The burgers were nice and juicy. Fries were crispy and hot. Pam had the chicken tenders. They have their own proprietary sauce. I added mustard to my burger. I highly recommend this place.

🇺🇸 Hood River
Riverside
Breakfast Spot
There are two parts to this. The first part is the scenery. It’s awesome. The river flowing by is a great view. Trying to find this place wasn’t easy either. And the parking isn’t car friendly. The second part has to do with the food. It’s just ok. Not bad, not great. Edible. The glass of milk is too small. The eggs looked plastic. Bacon was ok. Sourdough toast was good. If you’re driving down Hey 84 in Oregon and you want to eat by the river this is a good spot. If you’re looking for a great meal may want to try some where else.

The Milk Bottle
Ice Cream Shop
Our granddaughter Ella wanted to take us for an ice cream shake. This store is about 100 years old. It use to be a dairy store owned by the Benewah tribe. It has the old pictures on the wall. It is now a diner and ice cream shop. The service was great. He brought all the ice cream to the table. My wife had a banana split. I had the chocolate shake. Ella had a scoop of strawberry ice cream and, being 3 years old, it ended up on the floor. Very predictable. But it was fun.

🇺🇸 Hayden
Stupid cow cafe' Hayden
Diner
We were driving around looking at properties in the Coure d’alene area when we drove past this little diner. The name intrigued us so we decided to stop in and give it a try. The diner is nice, modern and clean. You can sit high table or regular table. We kept hearing a cow moo. We found out later that meant an order was ready. We looked at the menu and it was pretty cute. I ordered the Garbage omelette. The description said it had everything in it except “that”. It came with fried potatoes and sourdough toast. I put some hot sauce on it and it was great. And huge. That was my meal for the day. My wife ordered oatmeal. It came with brown sugar and granola. It also had an English muffin. The muffin came hot, chewy and the butter was melted into every nook and cranny, unlike most restaurant breakfast meals. The waitress said there was a film crew there filming for some influencer site on YouTube. Search for it and you can see what I am talking about.

🇺🇸 Santa Clarita
Salt Creek Grille Valencia
Pub Food
It was our 30th wedding anniversary so we hit this place up near the theatre we were going to visit to see a movie. (Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning 2, great movie). I had the chicken club with fries. Pam had the chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were great. Both look great, nice presentation. The waiter was friendly but sometimes he took awhile to come around to see how things were. The dessert was fantastic and I’m sorry I didn’t get a picture of it. Pam had the butter cake and I had a thing called Alora’s Delight. It was a baked brownie with a scoop of vanilla and a scoop of chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup and whip cream on top. The have a dessert chef who makes it fresh. Awesome! It’s worth the visit just for that.

K1 Speed - Indoor Go Karts, Corporate Event Venue, Team Building Activities
Miscellaneous
This isn’t exactly a restaurant per se, but it was our grandson’s birthday and we took him to a go kart track in San Diego. They do have a food court with pizza and things plus beer, so there you go. I have never done the race car thing so it was fun. Those cars are pretty quick and I’m wasn’t very good. My so -in-law lapped me twice. But I got him back with my pinball wizardry. It’s a fun way to kill a few hours.

LongHorn Steakhouse
Steakhouses
Brand new restaurant in Northridge. It took the place of a closed Macaroni Grill which was torn down and replaced with this restaurant. The place was nice and clean. It has a western motif. Even though it seems small on the outside it was pretty roomy inside. The food was really good. My wife had the shrimp skewer with a huge plate of broccoli. She shared it with me since it was too much for her. I had the lemon grilled chicken with a loaded baked potato. The chicken was excellent. Whatever the sauce was in it was really delicious. I was able to soak the broccoli in it which made it taste great. The chicken was very tender, almost melted in my mouth. We had eaten at a Longhorn Steakhouse once before, in Nashville around 2013. I thought it was really good then but in Los Angeles I don’t think there was one here. But now they have expanded to the Valley. We will be back soon.

🇺🇸 Calabasas
King's Fish House
Seafood
This is our favorite seafood restaurant. King’s Fishhouse in Calabasas is awesome. Nice atmosphere, very clean, attentive staff and of course great food. They have a diverse menu of fish with great appetizers and a full bar. I ordered the swordfish which is cooked to perfection. They bring hot sourdough bread to the table with soft butter, so you’re not tearing the bread up as you spread it. I’ve also had the grilled salmon in past visits which is also great. When in Los Angeles drive to the west valley and give it a try.

We were at the famous Hollywood jazz club Catalina’s. We went to see Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, which my cousin Dan Savant is a trumpet player and a founding member of the bank. We invited our friend Terry along since he is a jazz lover. The food was good and the music was great. Check it out when you’re in Hollywood.

Patys Restaurant

Paty’s is a good breakfast and lunch place. It’s located right down the street from Bob’s Bug Biy in Toluca Lake. I went there to meet two old friends I knew from the gym where we use to work out. Unfortunately our wires were crossed and they never showed up. So I ate alone. I ordered the tuna melt on sourdough with a side of fries. It was hot and tasty. Very enjoyable. When you’re in Burbank this is a good place for breakfast. Paty’s has been there at least 50 years and if you notice the pictures on the wall it is popular with the Hollywood crowd. It is also close to Warner Brothers studios. You won’t be disappointed.

Fergusons Fountain Cafe
Breakfast Spot
This is Ferguson’s Cafe in the Garland district of Spokane. The one picture has a brief history of the cafe. The food was good. What you would expect from a breakfast place. The place is very small and if you want to eat there expect to wait. The wait staff are extremely nice and helpful. The area surrounding it is something you would want to spend some time walking around. There are nice small shops to checking into. The last picture is my dogs. But I digress.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit
BBQ
While in Idaho we have to go to the Black Sheep Sporting Goods store. I can buy ammo there without the stupid 11% excise tax and paperwork we have to fill out in California. Just walk up to the counter and buy it. Anyway, there is a Dickey’s BBQ in the parking lot so we had lunch there. I have never eaten at Dickey’s so didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised. Pam had the brisket sandwich while I had the hot dog. Both were really good. Plus after we ate we got a free ice cream cone. We are going to find a Dickey’s when we get back home and try it again.

Zip's Drive In
Burger Joint
Zip’s is a regional burger place up in Eastern Washington and Idaho. We took the grandkids there for dinner. The burgers were good and the fries were crinkled and hot. Great shakes! The inside was generic and basically plastic. They seem to do good drive through business. I wanted to try it, I did and now I’m satisfied.

🇺🇸 La Pine
Wetlands Taphouse
Beer Pub
Driving to Spokane and we are in this little town of La Pine. We were hungry and needed a rest stop. This place looked pretty cool so we stopped in. Interesting place. The inside is a bar with 32 taps. They don’t serve food inside, just beer. But outside they have four different trailers that sell food. The only one open on a Wednesday afternoon was the pizza trailer, which was fine with me. As you can see from the pictures they have an outside stage. The bartender, who I think is an owner, said that during the summer this place rocks. It look like it would. They also have an outside heated patio. The bathrooms are heated, and clean. It was cold that day and if there was a table in the bathroom I would have eaten in there. Even though we only spent $2 in the bar area the bartender was very nice. She said they get no cut of the trailer sales so the bar area made little money from us. A good, clean, friendly place.

I gave it 3 stars because the cookie was good. But seriously, just hand me the cookie with a tissue or napkin. I don’t need a fancy box or order it through a computer screen. All I want to do is point at the cookie I want and pay for it.

In-N-Out Burger
Burger Joint
I don’t remember if I have reviewed In & Out before. We are on our way to Spokane and stopped to refuel and get some lunch. This is a So. Cal classic. I briefly work at In & Out on the 70’s. Their burgers are good but I have to be in the mood for it. The burgers are real meat unlike the big chains. The restaurants put out an aroma you can smell for blocks. It is unique. Great fries and shakes too.

ORA GRILL
JapaneseOther
We were going to eat at another place ( The Munch Box) in that lot but it was cash only. So this was our second choice. I thought it was ok. My wife said everything came out of a jar. The best thing she said was we went in hungry and left not hungry. While we were there about 30 minutes only one other couple walked in and they bought some sodas. It’s a small place and not in a good location. My brief impression is they won’t be there very long.
