My husband and I went here for a date night. I don't get many days off and we wanted to do something fancy yet casual/relaxing.
We started with thr fircracker shrimp and a small portion of warm sake (because you have to). The shrimp is tempura breaded and tossed in a sweet garlic chili sauce that isn't overwhelming and allows the tempura to retain some crunch. Also served with japanese seven spice pepper.
I felt adveturous so we ordered a couple sashimi I had never tried before. Escolar and Surf Clam. The Escolar was good and had a very different texture. Neither of us were amazed by the surf clam (that's the big red meat that almost looks like part of a crab) but we were happy to try it because we are both the type of people that want to try everything once.
The roll is the Ocean's Eleven with albacore, cucumber, radish sprouts, kampyo, pickled daikon topped with salmon, avocado, gochujang greens, carrot, cucumber and asparagus. It was a good refreshing roll that doesn't leave you feeling heavy or hungry. I like rolls that allow you to taste the raw fish and really get that texture as well while using ingredients that add to the fish without overpowering it. If you don't enjoy the raw fish taste and texture- you probably wouldn't like this roll.
It was a pleasent, laid back experience with something new to try everytime, which is why I always return.
