Had the tasting dinner menu at Attica. Food was creative but sadly not what I would call delicious. It was memorable for novelty (I ate possum, I ate emu egg, I ate ants!) but not for taste. Out of 17 dishes I truly enjoyed maybe three on the merit of flavor. That is a very low percentage. I would not go there again and I wouldn’t advise anyone to splash out for this experience unless you just want some bragging rights or are trying to impress someone with size of wallet.
Service was fantastic but not sure that makes up for lackluster food. They also encourage you to eat with your hands but it ends up being like a high end cocktail party.
While I appreciate the desire to shock and entertain with the creative menu it only works if it all tastes good. Ants are citric acid like and a bit bitter with a somewhat off putting texture. So please don’t dump them all over my ice cream and expect me to love it. I don’t have any problem eating insects but it has to serve a purpose other than cool factor.
