Cute little takeout sushi place. They also have yummy fried fish options. I recommend the fried oyster sandwich.

From the Scotch Bonnet food truck, a delicious curry goat burrito. So good!
(Burritos don’t photograph well but I had to share.)

I like the eggplant here. It tastes like good home cooking and isn’t greasy at all.

Mourad
Moroccan
A lovely experience. The couscous was redolent with brown butter and paired perfectly with the lamb. The basteeya is a requirement if you come and here and the duck liver was almost dessert-sweet reminded me of a foie gras pie I had at Rich Table.

Second time here. Highly recommend ordering a la carte instead of the overpriced family meal. The appetizers were all interesting and had impeccable flavors. Unexpected elements, like the compressed apple with the tartare, enhanced and didn’t clash with the flavors.

First time at the Berkeley location. Portions were so much more generous! Katsu was twice as thick and it was swimming in so much curry sauce. Definitely better than the stingy original Kearny St location.

ChineseDumplings
My coworker’s mom’s friend hand-made these leek dumplings. She gave them to me frozen and I fried them up. Light and delicious and perfect with Chinese black vinegar dip.

Caribbean
Home cooked Jamaican food. What makes the curry Jamaican is the addition of thyme and allspice berries. Also you have to toast the curry powder in oil before you sear the meat. The produce shop I went to didn’t have Scotch bonnet peppers but one (or two or three) make for a delightfully spicy curry.

Ice Cream Shop
SF Beer Week means a lot of wacky beer flavors. The stout ice cream had a lot of brownie chunks in it. The hop caramel was interesting: bitterness and acidity mingled with the sweetness.

There’s a slightly burnt edge to the soup; it was clearly sitting on the stove too long without being stirred.

My go-to spot was a little off today. Gristle and bone in the meat and the portion was slightly less generous than usual. I really like their homemade habanero sauce... can you tell?
