Sunday lunch date after volleyball on the beach. Drink: Mexican Coke and lager Food: The Little Sal slider (pictured on right), so delicious. The patty was much bigger than the bun and it was messy and would have loved some more onion confit and less of the bacon whiskey sauce (pretty sweet). My husband got, Bombay Hot Chicken. He said it was good but wanted some more sauce. We got an order of fries because it doesn’t come with anything and it was a ton of fries. Needed to ask for an extra sauce with the fries because it was so good and we didn’t get enough! Vibe: Cute and kitschy. Very small inside and we wanted to sit in the patio but there were a bunch of guys standing around taking up all of the space during our while dining experience. Staff was very friendly!

Sunday Breakfast Society

Food: Bread basket which features sourdough which was very good and jam. The butter was chilled, so hard to spread. We also got the breakfast tacos birria style (not pictured), which were delicious. I had the Revuelto (not in the menu online) which was a good basic Mexican breakfast. The eggs were cooked perfectly. I wish it had come with a sauce and beans for extra protein. I put some of the sauce from the tacos on it and it was good but really spicy. Drinks: oat milk latte and spiced chai Vibe: everything was pink which was SO CUTE. They were were true to their theme; pink everything, even the toilet! As soon as we walked in, both me and my friend started coughing because of the chili spice they cook with. We sat right next to the kitchen, which is an open concept, and it hit us hard at first but then the coughing stopped. Next time, I went to sit on the patio.

Food: The bagel sandwich was very good, with the aioli. There was SO MUCH egg which made it a little difficult to eat but still delicious. The country potatoes were okay but nothing to write home about. We also had the Italian French toast (not pictured) which was VERY sweet and the toast was a little dense but it was a good way to start out our meal. Drink: We had several Blame it on the Bubbly drinks and they were SO delicious, very refreshing. Vibe: We had a large group and the server did such a great job! Lastly, hadn’t been here since the remodel and it looks so nice, very tasteful renovation. However, I wish they had added another bathroom.

Lunch stop on my last day of spring break! Food: Poke Plate with Mac salad, Shoyu Ahi and Spicy Salmon with rice. There was brown sauce on the side that was great, some kind of sweet nutty soy sauce. It also came with some furikake seasoning and I put way too much on, which made it a little salty. Very intrigued by the Mac salad with Fideo noodles instead of macaroni but still delicious! Vibe: Hole in the wall with very friendly and efficient staff! No seating inside, just takeout. Parking: Always difficult in OB and needed to park a few blocks away.

Visited during my spring break for some caffeine and a treat, to read. Drink: Black and rose loose leaf tea with sugar; a little too much sugar was added so it was too sweet, won’t have them add sugar next time. Food: Savory mushroom Danish, SO GOOD. Vibe: Very minimal but soothing, great extended patio space, indoor/outdoor dining. Kind of a Kim K interior design vibe but not as creepy Parking: Paid street parking, could usually be tricky because it’s limited, I was just lucky.

Went for brunch with my sisters to celebrate her getting married! Drinks: house tea (very earthy but good); tencha ceremonial grade shade grown tea and Fleeting Flowers (butterfly pea tea and chamomile infused vodka, guava, cardamom bitters and Prosecco Food: Shakshuka; the sauce was SO GOOD and the eggs were poached, so well. Sauce was so good with the homemade sourdough to dip it in and a homemade biscuit. We also got the falafel which was SO GOOD. We got the Basque cheesecake for dessert and it was delicious with homemade whip and salted caramel sauce. Vibe: the interior was so clean and light, minimal and chairs were really comfortable. The views were so good; rooftop. Only weird thing was the bathroom was SO DARK, even a black toilet. Also, there were no hooks in the stall. Price: The food was priced reasonably but the drinks were pricey. Can’t wait to go back for dinner!
