Khaosan Road Thai Tapas
Thai
honestly one of the best thai meals i’ve ever had! the small plates are such a good idea because it means you can try lots of different things! the food also came SO fast and the staff were lovely so overall this was a 10/10 experience! stand out dishes are the prawn and pineapple curry, the duck and mushroom spring rolls and the crispy pork belly😋

La Vecchia Scuola
Italian
went here to celebrate my boyfriend getting a new job and was a teeny bit disappointed. first of all, the restaurant layout wasn’t ideal. when researching the restaurant online i saw that it had a beautiful conservatory seating area, but on arrival we were placed in one of the front rooms. the room had only 4 tables and at the time of our arrival there was only one other couple sat in there meaning it was so quiet and devoid of atmosphere. now for the food. the garlic pizza bread to start was absolutely delicious but i wasn’t blown away by my chicken and mushroom pasta. the porcini mushrooms on top, for example, were quite hard and not that enjoyable to eat. in all fairness, i was trying to be adventurous and steer away from my usual carbonara, so the fact i didn’t like it may just be down to my poor ordering skills. the pecorino chips were also a little odd.. they were really tasty but the cheese was sort of in a clump in the middle, not spread across all the chips. they did give us a free dessert tho bc we were celebrating harry’s job and that was so so lovely! we got a banoffee pie which i’d never had before and it was really good. would i go back… yes probably because our waitress was so nice and i would like to see if i just ordered the wrong thing the first time!

Sotano
Tapas Bar
oh wow sotano, i will definitely be returning! we came here for York’s October Restaurant Week and my god this deal was good value. 3 small plates and 2 glasses of wine for £20 and we’re talking delicious plates and a very reasonably tasting red wine. between us we got a big selection of dishes but the standouts were the ham and cheese croquettes, the chicken and chorizo sweaters and the patatas bravas!!!

Bettys Café Tea Rooms
Cafe
this was my first time visiting one of betty’s tea rooms and i will definitely be visiting again! the jasmine green tea was delicious and the eggs royale tasted so fresh and good quality. the only reason i can’t give this 3 thumbs up is because i wasn’t absolutely mind blown. the flavours weren’t anything i hadn’t tried before, but everything was done well which is why this place gets a very solid 2 thumbs up !

Brew & Brownie
Cafe
this was my first time trying brew and brownie but because i was trying to save money this week, i only ordered a sausage roll. it was really delicious though and it came with salad, so for £4.50 i thought that was really reasonable! i only wish they could have warmed it up because that would’ve made it even better, but overall it was a great sausage roll. can’t complain!

The York Roast Co.

apologies for the really terrible photographs but this yorkshire pudding wrap was really good!! the turkey was juicy, which i really appreciated because it’s easy to make turkey too dry, and it went really well with the cranberry sauce. i would have liked a little more gravy in my wrap which is the only reason i haven’t given this place 3 thumbs up. apart from this it was a perfect sunday lunch on the go !!

Cresci Pizzeria
Pizza
very delicious pizza. my only issue is that it was a little soggy in the middle because the base is soo thin. this meant when you picked it up the toppings slipped off a little, but apart from this they were very tasty and i would go again !

Brancusi
Cafe
really lovely experience and the coffee especially was delicious! the eggs freaked me out just a tiny bit because they looked like they had just tipped over from raw to cooked and i get a little food conscious with things like that but all together it was very yummy! the cheesy beans were 10/10 !
