From start to finish, the meal was delicious. Chips with salsa or black bean dip Beef fajita chimichanga, covered in a rich queso. Carne asada, cooked perfectly. Flan, which was dense and creamy like a custard.

Consistently my favorite L&L, it was good to come back (and be recognized by the staff). Their Loco Moco and BBQ mix plate were both exactly what we were hoping for. I'm not sure how it's different, but the macaroni salad here always seems better than any other Hawaiian restaurant. And we always bring some SPAM musubi home with us for a snack later or lunch the next day. 😋

One of the highlights of a trip to Dallas is visiting Maple Leaf Diner. It is no surprise that they've been featured on so many Food Network shows. We had their chicken and waffles (topped with their light and creamy iced cream puffs), and the pot roast poutine.

Always delicious, and this location exceeded expectations.

The cheese bread was even better than our previous visit! The Supreme personal pizza was good. We tried their thin crust, and it surprisingly stayed crisp without being burnt or getting soggy. The philly cheese fries were good, but I prefer their pizza.

The Scallywag is the Taco of the Month, a delicious combination of coconut shrimp and a fruity jam drizzle.

Dimassi's earns it reputation as the best buffet in Texas. The food was all good, and it was enjoyable to be able to try so many different dishes.

The Alaskan Benedict remains one of our favorite breakfast options, anywhere. The beignet-wrapped chicken was a unique experience, made delicious by the hot honey syrup.

The broiled seafood sampler was delicious. My favorite was the stuffed shrimp. One of the daily specials was 1/2 and 1/2 barramundi, and both halves were good. Their pre-dinner chips are seasoned well. And for dessert: bread pudding. All of the food here is always good.

The Sunday buffet seems to be the best options from all of their recent daily specials, plus some. Today, we enjoyed chicken and sausage gumbo, chicken stew on rice, turkey and mashed potatoes, cauliflower casserole, bayou chicken pasta, and bread pudding. We could have tried twice as many dishes, but we stopped eating while we could still move well enough to enjoy exploring the living history museum.

The restaurant at this living history museum was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed the baked potato topped with crayfish etouffee from the a la cart menu, and brought home half it it as leftovers. The day's lunch plate special was chicken pasta, and it was perfectly seasoned and creamy.

The Tacos (shrimp, fish, and pork) were all excellent. With so many places in the area serving similar options, this was a delightful, affordable surprise along the beach at the edge of a parking lot. On nice days like this, their outdoor-only seating was perfect.

The cheese on the burger was perfectly melted and resulted in it being one of the best standard burgers I've had. The highlight was absolutely the Mac and cheese gouda bites with crema. Those will keep us coming back whenever we're in the area. After lunch, we enjoyed a quiet walk along the beach.
