We decided to give the potato and beef empanadas a shot as an appetizer. The same with sour cream and salsa, and you got three of them. Those were out of the park. Crunchy outside, perfect meat to potato ratio on the inside, and scooping up the sour cream and salsa with each bite *died and gone to heaven emoji*. They were well sized, too. 10/10. What I did like was the also served up their one made mild (green) and hot (red) sauces for your food. The green was perfect for the empanadas. A little tang, a little warmth, actual flavor. Loved it. The red let you know it was there. Good spice, enough spice to warrant monitoring how much you use. 10/10. My main however, seemed to fall a bit flat. I got the three ground beef american tacos with rice and beans. I made it through two and a half of them. They just didn’t seem to have that oomph. The beef was not well seasoned and seemed more clumpy than usual. I did bite into a hard thing, but wasn’t sure if it was a beef bone or cilantro bone. It wasn’t a tooth, I checked. The sauces helped, but you shouldn’t rely on your sauce to make a good taco. 6.5/10. One other thing that bothered me was the soda. It tasted like they jus poured from a two-liter. And after every refill, they never filled my ice back up. So after three drinks, there were four tiny floating ice cubes, then warm soda. 2/20.

The Cosmos
Pizza
The app ordered was the Duck Fat Fries, White & Cheesy & Chorizo. The fries held up to the cheese sauce, which was great because nobody wants soggy fries. The serving of White & Cheesy was plenty enough to feel like I was eating fry soup. Not terrible, but I’m learning that me personally would rather have just enough sauce to cover whatever it is I’m covering. The chorizo was ok. A little dark and a little little. I’m also finding out that the best chorizo is moist and salty. This was really neither. 8.5/10 Now here’s the skinny on my pizza. I’m picky and basic af. I’m a straight pepperoni, cheese, sausage guy. However, I will try different pizza but typically only in a buffet style setting. My reasoning is as follows: I don’t want to ruin my meal by getting a weird pizza I may not like. Now, because of that, we did skip over the Trust Us pizza, where they basically make you something they think you’ll like. There was a little too much chance to be had with that. Instead, we settled on The #9 in the World. It had: boursin cheese, red sauce, andouille sausage, roasted red pepper, tasso ham, and cajun dust. The amount of toppings I liked overruled the amount of toppings I didn’t like, so this was a safe bet. Super glad we ran with it. Perfect sized little slices, allowing the toppings to fit and spread out evenly, giving you all the flavor in every bite. This was a pizza I would certainly do all over again. 10/10.

Original Flap Jack Shack
Breakfast
Anyplace you can order mozzarella sticks off the menu for breakfast is a place that will always hold a special place in my heart. However, these MS (mozzarella sticks), kind of missed their mark. The breading was more of a fried breading which is my fave as compared to the actual breaded breading. But the cheese part of the cheese stick just felt a little flat. More gooey/runny than stringy/chewy, which always brings MS to top tier. My main meal was the Sunrise Special, which sets you up for the potential of meal that will get you rip roaring to start your day. In reality, this meal mostly gave me a little nudge to start my day. And not even really a heartfelt nudge. More like the kind of nudge you give your grandma when the check out line is moving and she’s standing there reading the magazine headlines. My scrambled eggs were the type that were scrambled then spread out on the cook surface to cook before being sliced up and laid awkwardly across my plate. 4/10. My Spuds (cubed and fried potatoes) were decent. Salt, pepper, and ketchup go a long way here. They tried hard, I’ll give them that. 5.5/10. My pancakes really fumbled the ball here. Visually, they looked good. But they were dense and tasted of too much flour or pancake mix or sadness. 3/10. I am a man of bacon. It is my spirit animal. I prefer it limp. Or floppy. Or loose. Or lightly cooked. However, I always struggle to find a restaurant to perfect the limp bacon cooking method. 5/10 on limpness.

Harrington's By The Bay
American
As a typical restaurant in Northern Michigan, they only offer Northwoods Soda which I feel can be kind of an acquired taste. Black Cherry Creme Soda or their Black Cherry soda are always winners. Appetizer was Boom Boom Shrimp, which had phenomenal Boom Boom sauce, but the shrimp itself came dry (so dipping the shrimp into the sauce was required). Either way, it made it into my mouth and belly. As a second appetizer, we ordered the Warm Baguette. Holy. Bananas. If each baguette cost one (1) newborn child, I would become a serial kidnapper simply to keep eating their bread. Comes with whipped butter, but realistically it could come with pinecone shavings and it would taste just as good. Main course was the Beer Battered Cod with Truffle Fries. Another knock out of the park. Five perfectly sized fish chunks with perfect breading deep fried a perfect golden brown. The second coming of our Lord and Savior would still pale in comparison to this Heaven sent food.

Margaritas Grill Mexican Restaurant
Mexican
Had a party of approximately 12-15. Just took a fortnight to get service and then our food. But boyyyyy when that food came out. *melty face emoji* Had a couple apps, as one should. One was the 1lb of wings with Buffalo sauce. I’m a firm believer in all wings are good wings and this place did not disappoint. Crunchy skin, meaty, full of flavor. 10/10 would rob a bank to financially support buying more. The other app was the choriqueso. Basically chorizo and cheese. Served with chips for the dippin’ and torts for the rollin’. Anytime meat and cheese can be used for an appetizer, you have my attention. Main course was a black been and seasoned beef burrito. Standard size, but chock full of beans and beefs. Complete with cheese and red sauce. Came with rice and beans and pico. Everything was great and filling. Couldn’t even finish it. Not pictured: Pictures of the restaurant. Mostly because I didn’t take any, then decided to start keeping track of the delicious food I eat.
