Mono's Colombian Restaurant

After two failed attempts to eat at other restaurants, we went to this place that Daniel ❤️ had been to once before. The empanadas were delicious and came with the delicious green hot salsa. I love those Colombian empanadas. We shared the "everything on the plate" meal. The steak was good, but you know, super thin. The sausage was the best thing on the plate, I think. Also, the plantains were delicious. The egg could’ve been runny and it wasn’t. Maybe it’s not meant to be. The rice and beans were also delicious. I’m not a huge fan of pork belly, but it was good. I’d go back and just get the empanadas and plantains and be super happy!

Velvet Taco
Mexican
Actually not bad for a late night fast food taco joint. However, they were out of the one thing I wanted, and it was hard for me to re-decide what to eat. On the other hand, the service was really good as the woman behind the counter was extremely nice to me even though I was being kind of pissy. The nine dollar margarita was pretty good. Daniel ❤️ got a red velvet cake for dessert that I wasn’t thrilled with.

Taqueria Los Garcia #2

We had high hopes for this place. It looked legit. When we asked for corn tortillas, it looked like they were going to make them fresh. In fact, all they did was warm up premade corn tortillas. And those tortillas could not stand up to the fillings. The fillings were good, but the corn tortillas fell apart, making the tacos very difficult to eat. Unfortunately, this place was a fail.

Not bad Mexican, for a place we just happened upon when we were on the bike in Tomball. We got the queso flameado and it was actually flaming! Also got chicken empanadas, which I thought were delicious. Margarita was also good with jalapeños in it. All in all a great spot that we probably will never go back to.

Yummy breakfast tacos. We we’re trying out the Carnitas, as a test for a possible catering option for my 64th birthday party. They were delicious. I’m not sure I’m gonna do it.

With Amanda and Mike. Carnitas were not as good as I remembered from the last time. Margaritas were delicious as usual. Daniel loved his enchiladas. I'm gonna get that next time.

Happy birthday Daniel! Excellent service of course. We had: -Bread which was delicious. -Crabcake appetizer. Amazing. -Oysters, tiny, and not great. Particularly after we just had huge golf oysters that we bought at the market in Kemah a couple of weeks earlier. -Beef steak tomato salad, which they split for us. -Daniel had a bone in ribeye. -I had the peppercorn crusted New York strip. -Sides were amazing, delicious mushrooms, and skillet potatoes, which were also amazing. -For dessert we had the pecan pie, which was very unique and delicious. -Daniel had coffee, and I had a glass of port. All in all, I think it was a very good birthday dinner.

On our quest for good cheap fajitas. This one was a fail. "If this was the first time I'd ever eaten fajitas, is wonder what the fuss was all about." --May However! The service was very good. The small margarita was potent enough to give me a buzz. We agreed we'd go back and try something else next time.

Cozumel ceviche. We ordered the all in one. Included, shrimp, conch, and octopus (pulpo). The waiter told us it was three servings put into one plate. We managed to pretty much finish it off the two of us. It was delicious! But it was 50 bucks! Also had a delicious margarita. Not bad for sitting on the beach.

New quest! Find fajitas that are close to being as good as Pappasito’s or El Tiempo, but at a much lower price. Restaurant number one did not pan out. The fajitas were very good, I thought. Daniel ❤️ liked them too, but they weren’t Pappasito’s or El Tiempo quality. The margarita was very good. The salsa was OK, but too thin in my opinion. The fried stuffed jalapeño appetizer was below par. conclusion. I would go back. I would order the fajitas. Daniel ❤️ would go back. But he would not order the fajitas.

Pizza, Caesar salad, and garlic knots go well with the Texans beating the Cleveland Browns 45-14 in the NFL Wild Card Playoff game. I forgot to take pictures during dinner, so I took a picture of the last leftover slice which Daniel ❤️ had put in a Ziploc bag. He insisted I take it out of the Ziploc bag and put it on a plate at least for the picture. Above are both the pictures.
