Dongbei style food with a bit of variety. Food is generally pretty good here and they serve both flavored tea drinks as well as beer and wine

Leadbelly's BBQ is some of the best Texas BBQ I've had in LA. Not a lot of seating, so you might want to order to go, but definitely worth a try. Brisket, spicy sausage and the loaded fries are must tries. If you like burgers, the DNR (do not resuscitate) has a little of everything, which may be to much to handle for some, but worthy of the name.

A throw back to old school Hong Kong food for the working class. This is a branch of the DFC on Garfield Ave in Monterey Park just off the 60 FWY. Lines can be long, but the original location has been around for decades.

Magwyer has been in Ajax for over 20 years. Great food at this pub. Most dishes made from scratch. Famous for their wings with a selection that beats BWW. If you like wings with sauce, get them grilled so the sauce carmelized on the wings. Soups and most dishes made from scratch.

First time at Garden's Bistro, which I believe is part of the Garden Cafe group. Italian Asian fusion. Not bad, with many of the standard Garden Cafe favorites.

Great portions and a little bigger than what I usually see from Xi'An restaurants. There are some great flavors in most of the traditional dishes, even if not everything is executed 100% correctly. Reasonable prices. Go if you're adventurous and have someone who can speak Chinese. Great place for lamb lovers.

Long running establishment in Rowland Heights serving the usual HK cafe fare. Decent food and generous portions, a bit of a comfort food for those craving an HK cafe. No surprise that it's been here for over 20 years.

Hole in the wall BBQ place in Placentia. Lots of take out orders because there isn't a lot of dinning space. Must be the room they need for all of the BBQ smokers. Definitely on my BBQ goto list.

Don't let the Spanish sounding name fool you. Totally authentic Chinese food. If you speak to them in Chinese, they might not reply in Chinese right away until they warm up to you, but that's because they get so few Chinese customers. The managers are actually quite grateful to speak to Chinese customers, especially if you speak Cantonese. That's when the specials, if available are revealed that most of their usual clientele would never order. Great place for Chinese food if you're in the Pomona/Claremont area

Go to Hong Kong style congee and Wonton noodle shop. Bright, clean hole in the wall serving simple HK classics

Probably one of the only good dim sum places left to eat in Stockton CA
