Pampas Grill Churrascaria
Brazilian
My second favorite word is Churrasco… For lunch, it’s Picanha (and some Tri-Tip) from Pampas Grill in Culver City. I opted for some Potato Salad, Pasta Salad, Greens, Garlic Noodles, Chicken Stroganoff, and Fried Plantains. Picanha is Sirloin Cap and one of my favorite cuts. Tri-Tip is a must for me, as I’m a Californian. So, when I hear, “Churrasco” it’s Brazilian Barbecue Day! For those keeping score at home… My second favorite word is “Charcuterie”

Lucy's Drive In
Mexican
It started out as an ordinary Monday… I was thinking, tonight is going too well. THEN, my grill cook cuts the tip of his thumb pretty bad. It was a pretty deep cut, although he was wearing a cut glove. But, the cut glove had a hole in it. Yes, I had a talk with my grill cook about using a cut glove with a hole in it, it doesn’t make sense. I don’t get how young people today do not know what to do when they get cut. They think that they hold a paper towel on their finger for 10 seconds and it magically stops. They keep looking at it and continues to bleed. When I tell them to sit down and apply pressure to the wound, they hold it for 20 seconds and then tells me it’s still bleeding… SMH Since I had my managerial duties tonight AND now having to cook, do his injury on the job California paperwork, and serve customers. WTF! So, finally after work, it was time to eat at 1:40 am. Huevos Rancheros at Lucy’s Drive In in Los Angeles. With fried eggs served on a lightly fried corn tortilla with refried beans, rice, slices of avocado, and salsa. I wouldn’t say it makes up for the long night at work, but at least I get to have breakfast at 2 am. I hope Tuesday night isn’t as eventful…

When you can’t decide… Why not have both! Half Spaghetti and Half Ravioli with a Sausage at Little Toni’s in North Hollywood. I opted for meat sauce and meat ravioli and had a good amount of leftovers. Served with Tartar Sauce and Louisiana Hot Sauce, of course I bought extra sauce. I’ve passed by this place before and I was curious to see what they serve. It was a good FryDay lunch. It’s Sandwich Saturday! On the road, visiting my parents for a few days. Stopped off for a Tri-Tip Sandwich at Pappy’s Restaurant in Santa Maria. Santa Maria’s Famous Tri-Tip with the world famous Santa Maria BBQ seasoning and slow roasted. It was served to order (Medium) on a grilled French roll with fresh salsa on the side. I opted for a side of Pinquito Beans, when in Santa Maria… The first time I had a Santa Maria Tri-Tip, it was served with beans and salsa, it was so good. I wished more places served their Tri-Tip with salsa. It was a good stop… #tritip #tritipsandwich

Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles
American
Waffle Waffle Chicken Dinner After work, I was tired and for some reason wanted breakfast, but not eggs, hash browns, etc. Then I passed Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles and my dinner plans were decided. I was going to order the Country Girl, in honor of Dolly Parton, but I wanted wings and a waffle. So, it was the Country Boy with 3 wings and a waffle. But, I did order an extra thigh cause I was hungry. I wanted to order more, but it was getting late and tomorrow is another day. The chicken was crispy and not greasy, it was still steaming inside. I was happy… “Everyone loves fried chicken. Don’t ever make it. Ever. Buy it from a place that makes good fried chicken.” ~ Nora Ephron #chickenandwaffles

USC Village
American
It’s too hot to cook lunch today. After running some errands, I found myself hungry and wanting something cooler to eat, but not a salad. I remembered that I wanted to try a @sweetgreen wrap at USC Village, so when in Rome… Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me your wraps! Mark Antony may or may not have said it exactly… Classic Chicken Caesar Wrap with roasted chicken, chopped romaine, garlic breadcrumbs, parmesan crisps, shaved parmesan, caesar dressing and I went with a lime squeeze, and all wrapped in the olive oil tortilla. It was better than I thought, but not the best Chicken Caesar Salad wrap that I’ve had. I’m glad I got the lime squeeze, but it needed a bit more for my taste. Only problem, I was still hungry afterwards Wasn’t it Julius Caesar who said, I came, I saw, I ate OR something like that? #caesarwrap

I’m in a relationship with pasta. It’s al dente love! After work today, I stopped to see my friend at @fabioluscucina, at Sunset and Vine in Hollywood. Bolognese Fettuccine with house-made meat sauce, basil, and Parmesan. It went well with my roasted Brussels Sprouts. Unfortunately, the Dodgers lost to the Braves. I didn’t have room for dessert, but at Fabiolus, it’s a must! “I’m a sucker for pasta, and I’m not afraid to admit it” ~ Cameron Diaz

My Last Day Working in Culver City… It was supposed to be tomorrow, but duty calls and the new location doesn’t have a closing manager. So, I have to show up a day early and let’s see what happens… On my last night working in this part of town, I wanted something I couldn’t have in the city of Los Angeles. Winner Winner Taco Dinner! After a long weekend with 5 call outs in two shifts, no one wants to work anymore. It was one hell of a weekend and for some reason it was a hard Monday too, some of the most ungrateful customers. SMH So, it was Taco Tuesday from Sonoratown! Since I now live in Mid-City, the Sonoratown Mid City is so much closer to me and much easier to find parking than Downtown LA. One Pound Party Pack with Carne Asada, 12 homemade flour tortillas, salsas, cabbage, grilled green onions, limes, and radish. It was a good Tuesday!

Wattles Farm
American
The Longest Day of the Year… deserves the Longest Table, Right??? The summer solstice and the start of summer! Thanks to @cava @out_inthefield and @wattlesmansionandgardens Who would’ve thought dinner would be on a 4.2 acre urban farm in the heart of Hollywood??? On the grounds of the Wattles Mansion, designated Los Angeles cultural monument No. 579 in 1993, the farm is home to historic trees (some a 100 years old), avocado trees, citrus trees, Monarch butterflies, honey bees, and member gardens. I’ve lived most of my life in the Los Angeles area and had no clue there was an urban farm behind a fence on Hollywood Blvd. A choice of cocktails based on CAVA’s house-made beverages. I opted for the “Lavender Breeze” with CAVA’s Blueberry Lavender, vodka, lemon juice, honey syrup, and a splash of club soda. It was pared with CAVA’s famous Pita Chips. Dinner was a 4 course meal on a table filled with CAVA fans. The first course was a melon salad with fresh herbs and pickled onions. With a dash of heat that made it interesting. The next course was a noodle dish that we were expected to mix before serving. I thought it was pesto with tomatoes over noodles as I was mixing the noodles. Once I tasted it, it was CAVA’s Skhug dressing, with cilantro, garlic, and jalapeno. It was awesome! (see my IG post for the entire post)
